A Letter from the President August 2022

Welcome back to all our Local Units for the 2022-2023 School Year.  I am excited about our new year, and we have so many PTA/PTSA’s that are re-starting.  We have a phenomenal DCCPTA Board this year and we are off to a great start with having our first board meeting in person since Covid. I have had a very busy summer attending the National PTA Convention and Hill Day in Virginia this past June as well attended the Florida PTA Convention in Orlando, Florida.  The DCCPTA delegates that attended the convention did an outstanding job representing Duval County and I was so proud of each of them. 2022-2023 PTA Compliance Checklist: How to Keep Your Local Unit in Good Standing

Compliance Checklist At A Glance Below is a list of tips on how to keep your local PTA unit in good standing. Reviewing the compliance sheet here to ensure you are meeting all standards Registering your officers with Florida PTA here.  Remember, elections must be held annually. Completing and submitting your audits using the FLPTA Audit form and DCCPTA Audit form.  Submit a copy of each to treasurer@dccpta.org and audit@floridapta.org, as well as your school bookkeeper.  Filing your applicable IRS form 990 – See instructions here .  Send a copy of the ACCEPTED return  to treasurer@dccpta.org and 990@floritapta.org Determining if your bylaws are still valid (expired if dated before 09/01/18).  To update your bylaws, use this 2022-2023 Local Units Bylaws

DCCPTA Local Unit Memberships Should Increase Post-pandemic

Duval County Council of PTAs will Host First In-person General Meeting in more than 18 months.   On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, the Duval County Council of PTAs will host its’ first in-person general meeting in over 18 months.  It will be exciting to reconvene amid safer, post-pandemic conditions as we advocate and work on behalf of students throughout our school communities.  The results of a national survey of over 2,500 parents, released by National PTA in June 2022, revealed 80% of parents reported they think the 2022-2023 school year will be better.  The findings “also provide valuable insight into areas where we can continue to partner with schools to ensure that all students feel safe, supported, and connected at
